Visceral Games is part of EA Studios. Based in Redwood Shores, CA, Visceral is best known for its Dead Space titles, a third-person shooter survival horror game. The most recent release in this franchise, Dead Space 3, brings Isaac Clarke and merciless soldier, John Carver, on a journey across space to discover the source of the Necromorph outbreak. Dead Space 3 was released to critical acclaim in February 2013 for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Aside from Dead Space, Visceral has also released Dante’s Inferno along with a number of James Bond and Lord of the Rings licensed titles during the earlier days of the studio.

The Challenge Ahead: The Quality Analyst I is responsible for executing test coverage on a set of game features or sub-features within the development QA space. The Quality Analyst I will serve as the primary QA support for the development team’s current cycle, and help execute QA strategies that push test support upstream in the development process.

What a Quality Analyst I - Contractor does at EA:

As a Quality Analyst I, your primary focus will be providing game feature and/or development tool testing, test case regression, verification and adhoc of newly implemented features, and tracking of defects within proper pipelines to resolution.

Our Quality Analyst I provide qualitative feedback on features with issues of usability, drive smoke testing for daily build promotions and coordinate with other team members. You collaborate daily with members of Production and Development, and escalate issues of concern to key stakeholders in a timely manner.

You will also spend time drafting detailed requirements for new features, including test cases for feature testing, creating and maintaining relevant test cases for scripted verification, and prioritizing issues in the bug database to expedite bug fixing efforts.

Ultimately, you will be the voice of quality for the project.

The next great EA Quality Analyst I also needs:

  • 1-3 years of testing experience
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong sense of urgency to mitigate risks and potential areas of concern proactively rather than reactively
  • Database experience (JIRA, Bugzilla, DevTrack)
  • Level editor, programming, scripting experience a plus.
  • Expert level knowledge of first person shooter video game franchises (Battlefield strongly preferred)

Allison, Development Director

Allison began her career in Vancouver’s entertainment industry in 1995, wearing several hats over the years ranging from Production Coordinator to Marketing and Sales Manager in various Canadian film production companies. In 2007 she entered the world of game development working on Need for Speed ProStreet with the Environments team. Later, managing the Audio team for Need for Speed Undercover, she became a career manager for Need for Speed artists. In February of 2009 she was hired as a project manager for the central Core Technology team within the EA SPORTS label. In 2011 she transitioned into Audioworks, EA SPORTS’ central audio group, where she is currently a Development Director.
